Carolyn, First, don't assume that because you may have endo that you are infertile. Women with endo have babies every day. It may be more complicated for you to get pregnant, but not all women are infertile because of endo. Some women struggle and never are able to do it, but there are so many women on this forum with endo who have children. Now, I say "may" have endo not because I don't believe you, but because the only way to really diagnose it is with a laproscopy. I'm not saying the ER docs are wrong, but that you generally want to have a laproscopy and have the tissue biopsied to confirm that it is endo. There is a web site called EndoVictims (http://www.geocities.com/endovictims/endodocs.html) with a patient recommended doctor list organized according to state. There is a renowned surgeon Dr. Liu who has an office in NYC. Here is another web site that has alot of basic info about endometriosis, diseases with similar symptoms, and treatment options. http://www.morehead.org/wellconnected/000074.htm I also highly recommend "The Endometriosis Sourcebook" for information. You can get it from Amazon.com If you have the laproscopy and have endo, the doc will likely remove it at that time. My doctor informed me that the best time to try to get pregnant is within 4-6 months following a lap during which the endo is removed. There is so much information and it is alot to digest when you first get this diagnosis. I know it is such a scary prospect. I'd be happy to help share any info I have if you want to e-mail me. And this forum is probably the best education you can get about this disease. Also, try putting a post up here for "doctors in the boston area" and see who responds. Take a deep breath and research, research. Alyson
