Hi Pam I know why the doc wants you off loratab - its a narcotic. But that doesn't make it necessarily fair or compassionate of him to suggest it.

My own opinion as a non-doctor and fellow sufferer - if you think you need it - take it. If you want to try aleive, do, and report back to your doctor with how you feel on it. Keep the doctor understanding that you are not TRYING to stay on a particular drug, you are TRYING to managge your health and thats it.

If aleive is not helping, try something else or stick with what works -loratab. The thing is loratab falls into the addictive category - so whenever possible doctors will try to stop you taking it long -term. But they don't know how much pain we are in.

In any event - we all hope and pray that after the lap you will be feeling so much better that you don't need the meds.

As far as ovarian cysts go. They very often take care of themselves. Not always a need for surgery. Sometimes they dont take care of themselves, or they are a particular kind of cyst that needs drainage/removal but yea, in many cases they burst and disappear without event or burst and disappear with LOTS of pain. Occasionally they cause terrible complcations though. Its good he will get rid of them whilst in there. But yea, most women get the odd cyst episode and they are just monitored if not causing severe pain or getting insanely big.

Good luck with it! It will be okay. Thinking of you and sending painfree wishes
