Anyone on Provera?From: Abby (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Oct 28 20:49:09 2006
I have another question to ask of the ladies of this group that are taking Provera for their problems. I just started taking Provera a week ago and I started my period about the fourth day on it. The first day of my period you would have thought I exploded. My husband and I were in bed and I felt a gush of fluid so I sat up and pushed the sheets back to see what it was. What I saw almost made me pass out and I think my husband was stuck between whether to help me or dial 911. There was this great big puddle of dark red blood and darker red clots of different sizes laying all in it. My husband helped me clean up and remake the bed and we put a heavy thick bath towel down under me this time. A few minutes later I did it again. I started to be afraid of what was happening to me and I thought maybe I might be losing to much blood and I would pass out or die or something. We did everything all over again with the bed and put a towel under me and one between my legs this time so if it happened again it wouldn't go all over the sheets and the towel under me. It didn't happen again but it did fill up with a lot of blood at first like I was bleeding out and then it stopped and returned to normal. I have been wondering about this ever since it happened and I got the patient sheet for the Provera and it says if you sit still or remain in one position for a long time that blood clots may form. I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if this is common with hormone medicine or if I should call my doctor about what happened to me. Thanks.
