Freezing of cervix

I went to the doc on Monday & when he was doing my pelvic exam he noticed my cervix is inflammed & I have an infection. He doesn't know what caused it, but he gave me some antibiotics to take to see if that doesn't get rid of it. He mentioned at my appointment that if we couldn't get the inflammation to go away he would consider freezing my cervix. I'm just wondering if this process is normally done in the doc's office or if I have to go over to the hospital to have it done? Also how painful is it to have done? Do they numb your cervix first or give you a mild pain killer? Any help would be wonderful. Take Care, Mindy Jo
