Re: Abdominal pain and getting ready for first laparoscopic procedureFrom: Trisha (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Oct 23 07:20:33 2006
Hello. I had my first lap about a year ago where I was diagnosed with endo. My personal experience with the surgery wasn't too bad but it wasn't cake either. I was out of work for 1 week. I woke up from the surgery crying due to pain and had to be given 2 shots of morphine and 2 percocets before I felt better and hydros were not enough the days following to help with the pain. During my surgery endo was found and removed from my pelvic wall, on but not blocking my fallopian tubes, both of my ovaries-one ovary was stuck to my abdominal wall from an adhesion, my ligaments and cul de sac and they had to "disect" one of ureters. I think that the amount of pain you have after surgery has a lot to do with how much endo was removed, and from the locations it was removed from. I've heard from many women that their surgery wasn't at all that bad and then there are some women that are in pain for a week-it all depends. Try not to get too freaked out about it, it will turn out better than you imagine. I don't know about abortion but endo certainly causes abdominal pain in many of us and I believe cysts of fairly commen with women who have endo also. Let us know how your feeling and if you have any other questions! Take care.
