3rd Lap + few questionsFrom: Hela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Oct 16 04:24:49 2006
Hello ladies. On Tuesday the 17th I am gonna have my 3rd lap. I am a bit scared as my surgeon said my endo looks very bad (and that is only ultrasound) and he said he will have to work closely to bowel and there is a small chance that my bowel can get perforated accidentally, so I need full bowel prep (never had that before, it is really horrible??) Those who had their bowel perforated - how long did it take to recover completely? Can it cause some irreversable damage and long term consequences? I am also puzzled that he told me that I probably wont need a wound drain.. After both pervious laps I needed a wound drain for about 4-5 days - and now I am approaching more invasive lap (as then I was in stage 2 and now I am in stage 4) and he says it is unlikely i'll need it.. Also I probably wont but in case I do get period before or on the day of the surgery he said it is ok to go ahaed. I cannot imagine being sore from surgery and period at the same time! would have to be soaked with morphine to survive probably ... I must say, I feel lot more nervous than I felt before my last lap.. I so much hope I am doing a right thing.. I do not want the lap to do more harm than help (neither of the previous laps did make any difference to my pain or severity of endo!) I really trust this surgeon tho, he is not exactly an endo specialist, but has a lot of experience of endo as he is a head of fertility clinic.. Cant help having butterfies in my belly everytime I think of the lap Thanx for listening Do take care all of you.. Hope you have pain free days
