lacaroscopic surgery

I havn't been officially diagnosed with endometriosis. My doctor listened to my symptoms and my birth control history and decided thats what I have. She is trying to treat me with birth control and it worked the first two months but not so well since. I would really like to get lacaroscopic surgery done to diagnose me for sure but they won't consider it unless I lose about 20 lbs. I am overweight but not severely so. I'm about a size 14/16. My pains are not horrible, they just feel like period craps (all month long). Some days are more painful than others. It mainly is just extremely frustrating. The doctors office basically offered to give me a prescription for pain killers and send me on my way. They said they can't really do much else unless I lose weight. I was wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience with being told to lose weight before proceding with lacaroscopy? I'm new to this so sorry for the long message.
