Re: Lap SurgeryFrom: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Sep 30 09:42:05 2006
Kelly, Many of us have had multiple laproscopies. I think some doctors are more conservative about how often they perform a lap, especially because each surgery carries a risk of creating scar tissue and adhesions. He may be stalling in an effort to wait until he thinks it is absolutely necessary to go back in and will get the best result for the effort. If he doesn't think that there has been enough progression in the amount and size of your implants for him to be able to find something to remove then he might not want to do the surgery yet. The flip side to that is that he has no way to know what things look like in there without going in. I had my first lap with a doctor who six months later was insistant that my extreme pain could not be caused by endo because enough time had not passed since my surgery for it to have grown back. I sought a second opinion, he did the lap and found extensive endo even though it had only been a year since that first surgery. Everyone progresses differently. See if you can get an explanation from your doctor about why he is hesitant. If you are dissatisfied, seek a second opinion. Alyson
