Re: Pain ManagmentFrom: Sabrina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Sep 28 20:23:23 2006
While I take Darvocet for pain, I also take it WITH 800mg of Motrin, My dr said I could do that. It takes the edge off but doesn't kill it. My dr told me to take the pain killer that is what it is there for. He also said he could call in a rx anywhere that I was as long as I gave him the name of the pharmacy, phone number, and address. I too hate calling and asking for a rx. Not because I think that my dr will say no. He hasn't. He has filled it each and every month since Jan (except when he was on vacation out of town). However the last time I called, I couldn't bear to deal with the nurses. They don't talk with you like your dr does and everytime it was the same questions. What are you taking, why, have you tried motrin and a heating pad. This last time because I couldn't bear to deal with a nurse, I called and left the message on the refill line. I called when I had a day's worth left and the pain was starting up. I simply said my name, birthdate (they require this), that I needed a refill of Darvocet, that I was in pain, and that Dr. XXXXXX knew why I was taking the Darvocet, and that if there was a problem they could talk to him about it. Ok maybe the thing last month still had me mad as heck. Anyway, not even 45 minutes later I had a call saying that my rx had been called to the pharmacy. Before last month's incident, they would call at the END of the day. That was the 2nd rx that was called in right away within an hour of me leaving a message, the other was progesterone. Anyway, that may be an option for you if you hate calling. Just leave a message on the machine, pill line, nurse line. I'm hoping that this past time was the last time that I have to call in. I have my lap on 10/9.
