Re: Should i see a specialist?From: ada (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Sep 25 13:45:05 2006
Ashlie, Hi, my name is Ada and I am sorry you are in so much pain. I went through a four year period where I had ovarian cysts that would rupture, I know the pain is intense. My doctor at that point did not want to ever do more than bc pills because she felt that were simple cysts and nothing else needed to be done. As the pain became more often (at ovulation, the week before my period and during my period) I finally switched doctors. He immediately scheduled a lap (as endo can not usually be seen on an ultrasound). I had stage 3 endo and adenomyosis. You are right it is probablly not ovarian cancer, but I do remember having that scary thought and it is not a fun feeling. Your doctor should not be dismissing you. The only way they can tell for sure if you have endo is by a lap. Find a new doctor and ask about one. Write down all your symptoms and concerns and have them ready when you go in. Do not leave that dr. appointment without having asked all the questions you want. Good luck. Ada
