Re: Lupron a nightmare?From: kris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Sep 15 20:39:29 2006
Hi Aimme, I just want to say that while I was on Lupron I didn't have any endo pain but it was truly a nightmare. I was put on it while I was still in the hospital recovering from a laparotomy so I had no time to research it. I was 22 and my doctor kept me on it for 10 months without any add back therapy. It could be because I was so young (I'm only 24 now) or because i was on it for so long but the hot flashes, insomnia, and terrible depression that accompanies all that was miserable. The depression and hormonal imbalances took many months to go away even after stoping the injections. It was a lot to deal with at the time and I don't wish anyone to go thru that. I definitely recommend that you use Lupron as a last resort. The pain will return immediately after you stop the Lupron but if you've tried everything else and are still in immense pain it may be worth a shot. Everyone seems to have a different experience. My doctor led me to beleive that if I was on Lupron, and with the three surgeries I had during my Lupron course, that he could get rid of it and I would be "cured". That is definitely not the case so just be sure to talk to your doctor about your specific situation and what you can expect from it. GOOD LUCK!! Kris
