Re: heading to the doc soon

Hi Beth,
I think a good place to start would be to find out exactly what your doc
did during your lap in '04. There are a couple of ways to remove endo.
There is cauterization, which basically burns off the top of the
implant. Then there is CO2 laser ablation which is more accurate and
can remove more of the implant. And lastly there is excision, either
using a laser or scalpel to cut the implant out of the tissue (hopefully
removing all of it). It may be that your doctor did a simple
cauterization during your first surgery and is talking about doing
something more advanced like laser ablation or excision.
My first surgery was cauterization and I had no relief. My second was
laser ablation and I felt better for about 2 months. I don't think I
will go through it again unless I can see a specialist in excision.
There are several doctors around the country. The ones I am most
familiar with are Dr. Albee and Sinervo at the Center for Endometriosis
Care in Atlanta and Dr. Redwine in Bend, OR.
