Re: Had surgery and need addtional threapy. Looking for AdviceFrom: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Aug 11 07:59:13 2006
Audrey, I don't have any personal experience to offer with regards to taking Lupron. I can just give you my opinion. And this is only ***my opinion***! I really feel that when you are just diagnosed with endometriosis that Lupron should be a last effort when all else fails solution. There are several classes of drugs available that do carry side effects, but often not the risks of lasting effects to your body after completion of treatment. I think it is worth giving those things a shot before risking something as high powered as Lupron. If the alternatives work then you have saved yourself the trouble of Lupron. If not, then Lupron is still available as an option. I have to say that I am surprised by your surgeon's decision not to remove the endo from your sacral ligament. I have had two laps, and endo removed from that location both times. It could be that the endo was too involved in that location for what your surgeon was comfortable with. I know that there are skilled surgeons out there that may be able to help you with that. I think someone has already mentioned the CEC and Dr. Redwine. There is also Dr. Cook. These guys are considered endo experts. You may want to think about consulting with one of them regarding your surgical needs. In the mean time here is a link to a sight that is a good overview of the disease and treatment options: http://www.morehead.org/wellconnected/000074.htm There is also a book called "The Endometriosis Sourcebook" that is available through the Endometriosis Association. It gives a pro/con look at the available treatment options. I found it very helpful. Alyson
