I was on all types of pills and what not for a very long time while having surgeries, procedures, and just day to day pain from Stage 5 endo they found just last year...even after years of complaints!!! Finally my Dr. gave me the patches to try...since I had a higher level he started me at 100mgh (highest dose available.) I must say they worked wonders! They last 3 days (plus or minus one depending on the patch and person.) I slept wonderfully, and as I would describe it "Felt normal for once in a VERY LONG TIME!!!" I would say give it a try. There were some "breakthrough" pains as they call them that I had my bottle of pills in a drawer for necessary back-up, but overall they did great! The only thing, is that they may irritate your skin a little. I sometimes had red "raised areas" almost like a rash/broken skin. But nothing major, just change the spot. I personally found that where your back bends torwards the middle/lower area, and torward your spine (not on top) was best. They also give you a # on the box to call Johnson & Johnson where you get a box of 100 bioclusive sealers, which are like the IV covers you can put on top to make them stay since water and what not can get to them. Plus they're free. My only advice is stick to name brand DURAGESIC! The generic ones I've heard and talked to doctors and pharmacists about are nothing but trouble. I hope this helps you.
