Re: new here any info would helpFrom: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Aug 3 15:45:26 2006
Becca, It sounds to me like you may also have polycystic ovary syndrome. Unless you have been taking some meds that would cause the facial hair side effect. That is a very typical symptom in women with PCOS. Women that have it also tend to be heavier and carry the weight primarily around their middle. It can be diagnosed with hormone testing, but your tests quite often can come back showing no significant abnormality. In that case it can be diagnosed via ultra sound. There isn't much you can do about it, it isn't life threatening...just something that may explain the facial hair and weight. As far as your endo symptoms, we all feel for you. It is very hard trying to decide what treatment method to choose. You have every right to be concerned about side effects and you should research as much as you can before deciding to take anything. You may want to read back through some posts here dealing with progesterone cream. Some women have had alot of success using that as a natural alternative (you'll want to talk to your doctor about that too). Good luck, Alyson
