Re: Has anyone had surgery at the CEC? TO: ANONYMOUS

Dr. Sinervo usually communicates via email while Dr. Albee sends letters. I think you can request that Dr. Albee do your surgery. They both did mine, Dr. Albee did most of it while Dr. Sinervo assisted and watched. I had endo removed from my uterus, bladder, colon, ureters, and pelvic cavity. I had my colon unadhered from my back. I had several deep adhesions removed. I had my appendix removed due to chronic appendicitis from endo. I had my gallbladder removed due to gallbladder disease from polyps and endo(another surgeon did this). I had the scar from my previous surgery removed and he left me with a much smaller scar in my belly button. I was sick and in bed for 6 weeks after the surgery, mostly because I was so sick for so long before the surgery and also from how badly I was treated by the recovery nurse...she was AWFUL!!! She had me confused with the lady beside me and kept telling me that I needed to hurry up and sit up on my own and then I could go home(I was staying over night!) and kept yelling at me because I wouldn't pee in the bed pan she kept shoving under me(while the lady's boyfriend next to me looked on). I had to pee so bad, it hurt so much, but I couldn't go. She kept getting frustrated, but it was because my bladder had been operated on. I ended up getting 3 straight caths while there and went home with a foley cath, which I had for a week following my surgery. The nurses in the overnight area were nice to me, which made me cry after how terribly I was treated after waking up. She wouldn't even let my husband come in. He had no idea where I was for 4 hours while I woke up. (I am very sensitive to drugs and it takes me a long time to come to, and she wouldn't let me leave until I could pee, sit up, and breath on my own, NONE of which happened, she finally let me go after I could talk and I explained to her that she had lost her mind...she called the doctor to verify that I had had done what I was claiming and then had me moved to my room). But, that is not the fault of Dr. Albee, that is the fault of Northside hospital in Atlanta, which I must say is AWFUL!!! My sister just had a baby there in Feb, a scheduled C-section, and they treated her like she was invisible. Anyway, I had my surgery in August of 2004 and by March of 2005 I had my first 40 hour a week job. I have been working that ever since. I also went off bcp (was on a high dose continuously for 6 years after being on them regularly for 5 years). I have been off of them since 6 months after my surgery. I am doing well. I also have fibromyalgia and other illnesses, but getting the endo cleared up has really given me a life. If mine ever comes back again, I will definitely go back to Dr. Albee. My surgery was around 3-4 hours, I believe. The doctor that first diagnosed me with endo said that it was the most advanced case he had ever seen and couldn't believe that I had it so bad so young, but when I showed Dr. Albee the surgery records and pictures, he was like, I have seen much worse. He has seen it all and really knows a lot about it. If you do decide to go to him, you won't regret it at all.

Good luck!
