Hi Katie, Welcome! You are definately not alone in your feelings regarding this disease. It is always a mixed bag of emotions going in for a surgery for something so mysterious after years of being told nothing is seriously wrong. Now that you know what you are dealing with I would suggest educating yourself as much as possible on the different treatment options available to you, especially before your next Dr. appointment. The 6-9 month injections you spoke of sound like a drug called Lupron. It is a high powered medicine that works to drastically lower your estrogen levels. The belief is that endo is fueled by estrogen and lowering the estrogen should slow down the endometriosis. I have not tried Lupron myself, but there are many women on this forum who have. I think it is a really good idea to find out all that you can about any medication before trying it. Many of the medications doctors use to treat endometriosis can come with some serious side effects. So, you really want to know what you are dealing with when making a decision about whether or not that particular treatment method is right for you. Go back through some posts and read what you can about what the ladies here have to say about different meds they are on. Just remember what does not work for one person may do wonders for another, and the opposite holds true. Here is a link to a web site I found very helpful for some general knowledge about the disease and treatment possibilities. http://www.morehead.org/wellconnected/000074.htm There are also a couple of books available through the Endometriosis Association. If you have a chance to get ahold of them, I think they are great resources. If you would like to e-mail me I can get you the titles. Alyson
