Re: Is endometriosis and endometrial displaysia the same thing?

I'm no doctor, but as far i I know they are not. Endometrium is the scientic name for the tissue in your uterious, and that is what the two things have in common. I was diagnosed with cervical displaysia a couple years ago, they found that by a simple pap, then follow up with some biopsies, there wasn't really pain involved. It is abnormal tissue in my case on the cervix, for endometrial displaysia it would be on the uturus I assume. That is something that can be fixed by removing the abnormal tissue. I had a severe form of the disease and they called them pre-cancerous cells. Basically if i had left them unchecked it would have eventually devoloped into cervical cancer. A few months ago I had a lap to find a reason for abdominal pain and they found the endometiosis. That is when there are inplant of uturan(SP?) tissue in places they shouldn't be, for my on my ovary and pelvic wall. They react to you cycle but the shedding blood has no where to go, causing alot of pain among other fun symptoms. That can only be diagnosed through a surgical procedure called a laproscopy. That's as best as I can explain it, but remember I'm no docter just a journalist who does alot of research, hope that helped.

Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.
