Re: Just Confirmed Endo and wanting adviceFrom: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Jul 9 11:56:33 2006
Carolyn, I have not been through Lupron, but from everything I have read your first shot is generally the toughest to get through. It creates a drastic change in your body chemistry. There are many women that have had great success on Lupron, and many that have not done well on it at all. Unfortunately the only way to know is to try it. If you are having bad side effects you can talk to your doctor about add back therapy. It gives you a small enough dose of hormones to hopefully take the edge off of any hot flashes, nite sweats, etc. I feel for you and the stress this is putting on your new marriage. My husband and I were married May '05 and I spent almost that whole summer in bed and back into surgery in October. My surgery provided a couple of months of relief and then I was back to the doldrums. I have often lamented that this was not how our first year of marriage was supposed to be. We were supposed to have newly wed fun. Lots of love making, play time, adventures, setting up house. It just hasn't been that way. It has been stressful for us both. I hold alot of guilt for the fact that I feel like I am holding him back to some extent. I wish I could tell you that it won't continue to be stressful. We just try so hard to be sure to talk it through. I make sure to explain to him as much as I can about what is going on with me, how I am feeling each day, what meds I am on and what they are supposed to do, my fears and hopes. I even printed off some information about endo and possible treatments and told him how important it was to me that he read it. If nothing else it makes me feel like we are in it together and he is an active partner in my treatment decisions. Here is the link to the website I printed the info from. You may find the info helpful as well. http://www.morehead.org/wellconnected/000074.htm Try searching back through some of the posts on this site dealing with Lupron. They may be very helpful too. Good luck to you, Alyson
