Re: Alexis~ Any other endo ladies feeling like they live on pepto bismol? From: kyla (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Jul 5 14:31:54 2006
Hi Alexis, Sounds like we've had a lot of the same problems. My stomach is always bothering me as well and I feel like I am continually taking Zantac. I found it worked better than Pepto Bismol and it doesn't taste as bad ( I take so much of it I should really consider buying stocks in the company lol). The nausea and pain for me got so bad that I have ended up in the ER a couple of times which always resulted in them telling me to take gravol to deal with the nausea. The doctor in the ER told me it was IBS and sent me on my way even though I don't have any symptoms of IBS.......very frustrating. This has been going on for over 7 months now and nobody seems to have any answers for me. I have have blood tests, all coming back perfectly normal. They thought I could have ulcers, but of course it wasn't (ulcers are caused by an H.Pylori bacteria which I tested negative for) but still decided to put me on expensive ulcer medication just in case. I have had abdominal ultrasounds and then too everything came back perfect. Since they can't find any other reason to be causing this I can't help but think it is the endo that is causing it. Not unlike the pain it comes and goes and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. Every single doctor I have gone to I have asked if the endo could be the cause and every single one of them has told me that endo does not cause nausea. Yet, even with all of the tests that they have done on me none of them can find out what is causing it. I even had one doctor say she doesn't know what to do with me. I am losing my faith and my paitience with these doctors. That being said, I do have an appointment with another doctor this thursday, he's suppose to be really good, and I am praying that he can help me. If he gives me any insight at all I promise I will send any information along to you Alexis. I also have been seeing a naturopathic doctor for the last 3 months and quite honestly he has been the first person who I have seen about this who hasn't made me feel like I was insane. I originally went to see this naturopath because a friend of mine was having a hard time with her endo and she has had great success for the last 8 years. Since seeing him the nausea and the pain have subsided down to something a little more managable and I only occasionally have had to take a couple of Zantac to control the stomach issues. I am taking a ton of vitamins and supplements as well as changing my eating habits but I do feel better than I was and I feel better about doing it naturally rather than putting a ton of chemicals into my body that may or may not work(human guinea pig seems to come to mind here). I am not too sure where you live but it might be worth it to see a naturopathic doctor to see what they say. It takes a little longer but it is nice to know that your body is naturally balancing itself. If you'd like I can keep you updated on the progress with the naturopath. I hope that your stomach is doing good today and that you are pain free.
