could use some advice. has anyone tried mirena? From: kyla (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Jun 23 21:12:39 2006
I just came back from my obgyn and I am at a loss for what I should do. First of all, I mentioned my concerns with this last period and got an answer that I had not expected. I was on Depo-Provera for 2 1/2 years and had my last shot Dec.1 2005. I stopped taking it because not only was it not really helping with the pain (their solution was for me to get the shot every 10 weeks instead of every 13)I also started to get very nauseous. The nausea and the pain got so bad that I ended up in the ER twice and they told me to take gravol and tylenol. My first period off Depo was normal. I had pain, which I had expected, but it was normal. I didn't get my period for 2 cycles and this last one was awful. First the pain was so bad and my lower back hurt so much that I could barely make it out of bed. Also, I had huge clots, about the size of my hand, And it was so thick that it wouldn't come out unless I went to the bathroom. Sorry to be gross but they sunk and stayed like fluid filled sacs in the bottom of the toliet. Upon telling my obgyn this she informed me that I could've had a miscarriage even though I never knew I was pregnant. Or that because I missed 2 cycles it was just a build up of tissue. I don't know what to think now. my period has never been all that regular and I have not had a period for 4 months at a time and then when I got it it was never like what I just had. I hope and pray that it was not a miscarriage but I do not believe that I will get any answers about it. Her solution for the pain is to now get a Mirena IUD implanted. I have done some research on the internet and I am not all that keen on what I am reading. The side effects are everything that I am trying to get away from since my body did not react well to the Depo shot. Also, I have read that it causes very heavy bleeding. I know she doesn't want me to have to go through surgery again but shots, patches and pills don't seem to agree with my body at all and I am at my wits end with all of this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for letting me vent.
