Re: An EA Debate

I am sure that I am one of the people that you are referring to in this message...funny thing is that I totally agree with you! :)

Please allow me to introduce myself ~ Several years ago, I was a regular participant in several online forums, including this one (under a different email address). In fact, I was a co-moderator for the AOL message board for three years back in the late 90's. I enjoyed reading what other women were experiencing, especially if it related to my personal situation. It is also a good feeling to be able to share something with a fellow "endo sister" that will make her feel understood, supported, or even to find some relief.

Through online forums like this one, I met many women that encouraged me to join the Endometriosis Association. From there, I became a support leader and then a member of the Board of Directors. As I'm sure you can understand, the time I used to spend online is now spent on those endeavors. In addition, I was fortunate enough to have a daughter and she now commands a lot of my time - which I give willingly because I take her to be a complete blessing. Although I still browse the posts, I do not have the time to respond to people like I once did.

Additionally, now that I have taken on these two leadership roles with the EA, I have to be careful what I post online. People assume that I am speaking for the organization and that is NOT the case. I am one of those people that "shoots from the hip" and can only support what I feel to be true. However, if I post something about my *personal* experience with Lupron, for example, some people get angry with me because they feel that the *EA is endorsing Lupron.* I ASSURE YOU THAT IS NOT THE CASE! However, I hope you can respect that I have to be more careful now about what I share about my personal experiences.

I hope you don't feel that you should vote the way that I would, simply because I posted a message here. What I DO hope is that women will read the information, check out the links that share the more detailed information, and make whatever choice they feel comfortable with in this situation.

You should know that I was asked to post my thoughts on this board by a few women that were concerned that FACTS were not being presented. As a person who is very involved in the current "debate" they felt that I would be a good person to post regarding the true reasons for the current election / issues.

I hope you don't hold that against me personally. :) This is an EXCELLENT forum for women to share their ideas, opinions, and support and I applaud all of those people that have make it a successful haven for women with endometriosis.

The best case scenario is that more women will get involved OVERALL! More women will participate in the EA's election, other organizations, and online forums because they will realize how precious these resources are to them.

This is my hope.
