Cheryl, I had a "pre sacral neurectomy" performed during my last lap. My doc explained it as severing the nerves in the sacral ligament (which attaches you uterus to the pelvic wall). Severing the nerves essentially interrupts the pain transmission from your uterus to your back. It provided me with a ton of relief from those intense throbbing pains in my lower back. Also, it was my understanding that the nerves were cut in the ligament, not in the spine. Alyson
