Re: pain is backFrom: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jun 12 12:21:07 2006
Tammy, I really think it depends on the individual. I got the same response from my doctor two months after my first surgery when I was still in excrutiating pain. I managed to wait almost a year before having surgery again with a new doc. When he went in he found extensive endo (much more than the original doc took out) including an orange sized implant in my hip. All that grew in less than a year and I was on Seasonale (birth control). I've seen posts from women on this board that have had to have multiple surgeries a year as well as some that are able to make it for several years without having problems again. Interestingly the doc that performed my second surgery was completely supportive of the fact that there would be something to remove in only a few months time...but when I went back to him in pain again after he performed such an extensive removal, he looked at me like I was out of my mind. On a different note...I had a lot of help with pain management through acupuncture. It was extremely helpful in providing relaxation and controlling the pain. I am also currently reading into the "endo diet" as a way to manage the disease. Maybe these are things that could provide you some relief since you are unable to take the medications.
