amitriptyline vs. natural pain remedies

Hi everyone,

I recently saw my doctor about some pretty bad chest and back pain, and he prescribed me 25 mg of amitriptyline a night. I did some research on the drug, and I'm not sure how I feel about this particular drug... I know it's used as an anti-depressant at higher dosages and to treat chronic pain at lower dosages. 25 mg should be a pretty safe, low dose to help me sleep with all the pain. But there seems to be quite a few side effects and potential interactions that make me nervous. Has anyone taken this before? Any thoughts?

Also, I'd rather find a natural remedy for fibromyalgia and chronic chest and back pain (I'm sure this is related to my endo). Any success stories here? I just started the wheat-free diet, but I'm still educating myself on it. I'm going to invest in progesterone cream soon too. I really think these might help my endo. But any suggestions on helping the fibro that came with it?

Thanks!
