Re: Endo and gall bladder removal?

Hi, Elisabeth, and welcome to the forum.

You've found a place of very helpful women who are full of knowledge, experience, and loads of sympathy for your daughter and for you. You can always post your questions, and we'll do what we can.

My doctors assume I've pretty much had endo since I started my period at 12, given the amount of scar tissue I have in my pelvic cavity. I wasn't diagnosed by symptoms until I was 17, and finally by a lap two years after that. I'm 22 right now, and am going through my second round of induced menopause. Right after I had my first lap (two weeks), I ended up having another because they thought I had appendicitis...my gyn didn't remove it because she didn't see it--it was "retrocecal," which means it was hiding behind my intestines. When I was in the ER being checked for that, they also said I had gallstones...what they told me that I found interesting is that women are at higher risks for needing their gallbladders removed if they are young, white/fair skinned and have been on birth control for several years. I started birth control at 17.

Especially with her being so young, it's awful to be struggling with this.

If she ever wants someone to talk to who is young and struggling in similar ways, I'd be happy to help offer her encouragement. Few people her age (or mine, even) understand the crippling pain we experience. You or your daughter are welcome to email me anytime!

Good Luck!
