To Loretta- Gallbladder/Chest Pains

Hello Loretta. I just read the posts about chest pain. My gallstone and gallbladder was removed in the fall of 2002. The pain is tremendous during a gallstone attack! As Suzie wrote, the pain normally happens under the rib cage and breast bone. Have your doctor check for gallstones and ulcers.

I felt like I had the flu for three months. I was constantly nauseated and the sharp, stabbing pain happened periodically until the last week before my surgery. During that week, I was in extreme pain and could not sit, stretch, bend over or lay down. I was completely unable to get comfortable. I forgot about even trying to sleep. You could put your hand on my stomach and feel the heat radiating from it!

My Mom rushed me to the doctors Friday night and I was back in the doctor’s office at 7:00am the next day. I had an ultra-sound done and they found the gallstone. I immediately had surgery the next week. I found out that I was in excruciating pain because my gallbladder was highly infected. The surgeon said that it looked like black tar was leaking from my gallbladder.

Your pain is real and I hope that you can convince your doctor of that! Loretta, I have dearly missed your weather updates!! Here in Wisconsin, it is 70 to 80 degrees and sunny. I hope your snow has melted and it's starting to warm up. I live next to a pond with 4 swans and one pair is getting ready to have babies. There are four eggs and I check out their situation every day. I'll keep you updated. How is all your wildlife?

Get well my friend and I am praying for you!! You know my email address and I hope you know you can use it at anytime! I'm very, very thankful that your husband is taking such good care of you. You are so blessed with your family!

All my prayers and I truly hope that the doctors can figure your situation out.

Take care, Shawna J
