Re: cramping and pregnant?

Hi Jennifer,

I have no wish to scare you, but just recently I conceived and miscarried. From the very first day I conceived I had major cramps, I mean nothing you can just disregard and go about your business, but really bad pain. It ended in a miscarriage for me, but all along the doc's kept assuring me that it's "normal" and it should go away by the second trimester. It was my first pregnancy also, but I have always had debilitating pain during my periods, and I had to stay in bed several days when it would come.

I'm telling you this because what you have seems like light pain, and when I was experiencing this during my pregnancy I read a lot on the subject, everything I could get my hands on. A book called "what to expect when you're expecting" is a very nice read for first time mommies, I highly recommend it. In your shoes I would not be afraid of little pain, but if it becomes more than that please go to your doctor asap, or even into urgent care (it's cheaper than ER) and tell them the whole story and your symptoms.

>From what I read, some minor pain during the first trimester of the
pregnancy (especially in first pregnancies) is due to your uterus expanding to accomodate a growing baby. It's nothing to be worried about, just like those trips to the bathroom aren't, it's normal and I guess everyone goes through some discomfort during their first pregnancy....simply because your body is going through a new sensation.

Again, do not get scared when I say my pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, I had a totally different problem than you do. Yours seems very normal to me. Think positive thoughts and if it's just a little pain, well...it's worth it for your little one. We can't expect to be all like we are before a new being started growing inside of us.

I wish you all the happiness and a very easy pregnancy, as well as labor!!

Good luck!

Inny
