Aygestin (norethindrone) pills prescribed for endoFrom: Lisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue May 16 11:17:04 2006
I finally found a specialist in the area and he prescribed me Aygestin, 5 mg a day and he took me off birth control pills. It's a low dose of progesterone and studies in Europe have shown tremendous results in patients over there. I have been on it for two months and my symptoms are slowly subsiding. My endo pains are still there, but much less frequent and much less painful. My specialist said that it takes most women 3-6 months for full relief. I just wanted to let you all know about the option. I had seen four different general OBs in my area and none of them had ever heard of this. It's always "get another lap" or "lupron" or "if all else fails, hysterectomy". I hope this helps some of you. If you are in the new england area, there are many specialists at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Lebanon NH that specialize in endometriosis. Such a little thing has made such a difference! Let me know if any of you have tried this, or if this helps :)
