Re: Pain in the groin area??...anon

I was a really active kid, climbed everything vertical, etc. then while
I was a teen had an accident which resulted in a chip in my hip bone and
since that time I have fairly constant aching in that same area. I have
developed bone-spurs and arthritis since and the only thing that I have
found that helps is a fairly steady dose of mild activity and ibuprofen
and heat (hot soaks in the tub and heating pad) when it's really acting
up. I usually get a sensation that someone opened me up and filled my
entire hip joing area with ice. It's a cold burning sort of pain with a
dull ache underneath it.
It has never been related to endo since the injury and pain predates my
diagnosis and even the onset of symptoms but it would seem to me that
inflammation in one area can be influenced by inflammation in another.
If you're cramping and such you tend to hold yourself differently, walk
differently, stand and sit differently which could maybe put more strain
on one side of your body thus aggravating something that was already
there.
It's hard to do but if I can catch myself at it and correct my posture
it does help prevent my hip from jumping into the act full force. I
also have to remind myself to get up and move around a bit more
frequently on busy days (I'm an office worker who sits way too much) and
that helps keep the aching stiffness at bay.
Basically you just have to pay attention to what you're doing/not doing
and make adjustments. Hope that helps.
