To all of you that I have freaked out about the 'stick'

Ok, so ladies you are the only ones who can make me laugh out loud about having someone put a metal rod up my "hoo hoo" and into my uterus, sorry had to reuse that term as I have always found it funny, my sister uses that term! I loved the one about running into that person in the grocery store! SO TRUE!

OK seriously I do feel that as patients we should have been told about this part of the procedure. It explains some of the soreness. I don't feel as if it is any reason NOT to have a Lap done. You have to think about it this way if they didn't get your uterus out of the way it could be damaged, and the doctor might miss a really important finding. If you don't want to see anything then tell them to keep you all robed up until you are under. Most doctors will follow your instructions, and hey if you are awake and they start to unrobe you tell them to stop and wait. By the way if you have ever had a D&C they do the same thing. I have found a website that shows the equipment used and has pictures of this "rod" and it being used. I wasn't going to post the website because of how my first posting on this freaked out some of us. PLEASE BE WARNED IT IS GRAFIC. If you don't like the idea of this then please don't look. http://www.laparoscopyhospital.com/laparoscopic_equipments_detail_5.htm

I am a huge advocate of being a very active in your health care decisions. You have to be, it's the only safe and smart thing to do. Know what is happening or going to, research, research, and more research. I have become more of an advocate from this experiance. I am sorry to freak anyone out but I would rather have known about this before, than to have read it in a report. Hope you are all well, this is the "bad" week for me, got my period yesterday :-( Rhonda
