I am glad you have a sense of humor! mine I am afraid has not been so good
about things like that, (from a child, yes, from adults, no).
A few months after my 13th ab surg and before I went on disability,
I was working a second job as a waitress,
( after teaching in a group home of 18 special needs residents all day I was
so tired and cranky),I waited on a table of an older man and his wife.
I was still very distended form the surgery and tend to be a bit "bellyish", lol,
with my endo anyway.
The older man asked me when I was due. He said, you are what 7 months along?
I politely said no but didn't want to get into my situation, He kept on and on,
every time I went near the table he would raz me, when are you due?,are you not
happy to be pregnant?
It's a gift you know, ( ya guy, Ive had umpteen surgery's so I CAN have a
baby but NONE have worked so yes, I know what a gift they are)!!
Finally after the 5th or so time I finally sat down almost in tears and choked
out that I had had all these surgery's and was still recovering from the last
and that I had endo and such.
I was really angry that I didn't know this man and felt I was forced to tell
him this personal thing about me so he would be quiet!
He even patted me on the belly a few times at the first of it all!
( I just had my stitches out)!
I am a very good humored person and rarely am offended or touchy,
but that and things like that (only when it comes to my body) now drive me crazy!
I am not a large woman so my pot belly from all this and lack of stomach muscles
have made me very self conscious and talking about children, as I couldn't
conceive after all the surgery's, (1 tubal after 8 surgery's)
I wish I didn't feel this way or over react.
The awful thing for me is that was not the first nor last time I have been asked
that! I know now if I am relaxed I could look 3 or 4 months.
I ask my friends , hubby and family if I look pregnant,
I think they are polite when they day no.
I wish I had a better response to stop the conversation right away with out
having to go into it all. "No I'm not", doesnt seem to work.
Thanks for listening, thought I was over that a whole lot more than that!
It's funny what can be one's trigger.
