Re: sciatic pain and endometriosisFrom: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Mar 28 13:36:00 2006
I have not been diagnosed with "sciatic endo", but I do have endometriosis and have been experiencing increasing sciatic pain over the past several months. My pain originates low in my hip bones (like the sit bones) and shoots up through my bum and the sides of my back. Occasionally it shoots down my right leg. Sitting for very long is uncomfortable, standing is uncomfortable...My primary care doc has taken x-rays and is talking about an MRI to rule out an injury. She thinks its the endo b/c she says it is rare to have sciatic pain on both sides. I don't know if it is necessarily on the sciatic nerves or just near enough to them to cause irritation. When I had my last surgery in October the Dr. removed alot of endo from down near my hip sockets. Alyson
