Re: Anyone else experience fevers?From: Elaine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Mar 25 08:34:08 2006
Yes! Glad to hear it isn't just me. I have had the low grade fevers off and on since the endo problems started (long before it was actually diagnosed). I went from doctor to doctor and went through every test BUT the laparoscopy for all my symptoms and of course they were all negative, except curiously my white blood cell count was often high and I had the low grade fevers (99-100). Doctors were baffled. After I was diagnosed with endo via lap in 2004 and did some research on it, I just put two and two together. I think that endometriosis is an autoimmune disease, which means that our bodies respond to the endo tissue growing in unusual places as if it were a foreign substance and our immune system kicks into gear and tries to attack it. Hence the fevers. Kind of a simplistic explanation but worth mentioning. I actually had a complete hysterectomy seven months ago and the fevers went away for three months, but then the pain and nausea started again and soon the fevers followed. Long story but I still have endo left behind in me that wasn't removed and am sure my body is struggling with the endo again. Here is a link that describes fevers as a symptom of endo and immune dysfunction: http://www.endo-resolved.com/symptoms.html I hope this helps.
