Re: Coping with EndometriosisFrom: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Mar 16 17:58:45 2006
Alicia, I would start off by getting a second opinion. There are alot of ways to manage endometriosis other than Lupron, pregnancy, and/or hysterectomy. It really sticks in my craw to hear a doctor tell a newly diagnosed patient that those are the only options. You may have to spend some time and try different things, but there are alot of options to work through. Lupron is certainly an option, but you should really research the drug (and any other) before deciding to take it. Lupron, Danazol, etc. are powerful drugs that can work very well, but also have a potential for serious side effects. I always like to pass along this web site because I think it is very comprehensive in explaining endo and briefly laying out different treatment options. It would be really good if you can find a doctor who is more educated about endo and willing to explore different options with you. Here's the site: http://www.morehead.org/wellconnected/000074.htm Here is another site with a list of doctors that you can check for one in your area. http://www.geocities.com/endovictims/endodocs.html Good luck to you, Alyson
