Maybe the hand swelling is like the ankle swelling associated with people taking the birth control pill? I don't know. If your hands get really big, warm/hot, or tender to the touch I would ask about a side effect called thrombophlebitis. My med book warns about this on this drug. Since it is in both hands, its probably a normal side effect. I would follow your doctor's low salt advice. Salt is a fluid grabber and can create swelling too. Let us know how it goes.
