Milk of Mag takes sometimes overnight to work. (It never works on me personally.) The problem I have with what you have said is we are going into day (6?) post laparoscopy and you have not had a BM despite eating meals and everything. I would definitely call the office back and explain that this is concerning you if the milk of mag hasn't worked in 24hrs. You may need to take something stronger, or may need to be evaluated in the office without a BM in a week. I know this may be difficult for you, but an over the counter Fleet's enema may work to get you moving again too. ***Please call your doctor first before you try laxatives and these other methods first though. I don't know if your doctor did anything to your bowels during your lap and you need to be careful. Don't let the office blow you off either! Ask to speak to your doctor if the nurse gives you an attitude! (I'm a nurse and I can't stand talking to some office nurses over the phone. They act defensive or irritated somtimes:) Never mind the pain from the lap, now constipation...EEEEKKKKS! Eat or take some extra fiber and lots of water in the next days to follow. Hope something works for ya!!! Good luck!
