I'm right there with you too!

I'm 28. We've just gone to our first appt. with the fertility dr. Not only do I have endo (with a lg. cyst surrounding my left ovary) but my husband has an abnormally low sperm count, part of this is due to a genetic translocation the he has that runs in his family. The doctor has told us that even with IVF & ICSI our chances of conceiving are under 50%... Where we live ART isn't covered by insurance and so with the meds & procedural fees one try at IVF would cost us $8,000.

I'm a week into my first round of Lupron. I'll be on it for 3 months and then I'm having a lap to remove the cyst, ablate the other disease, and he'll also perform a hystrosalpingogram (to make sure my tubes are clear). Then we are going to try.... My husband and I will both start going to accupuncture.

We are going back to the dr. on Wednesday and I am going to ask about IUI. I figure the first month after I come off the Lupron and have my surgery we won't be able to have sex, so maybe that's a good time to try IUI. It's less expensive (all told I think it should be about $800)

Anyway, I'm here for you all. And I'm following your progress. If I can be of any help or comfort to any of you, feel free to email me.

Alicia
