Re: Post laparoscoy questionFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jan 30 02:55:35 2006
Hi Becca, It's Kristy again, yes it is normal to feel quite tired after a laparoscopy. Pls take it easy for this next week or two and don't try to be Super Woman. With my very first surgery it took me 4 months to get rid of the post-op pain and tenderness, and it took me another 8 months to get my full energy back. A friend warned me that it takes the body a year to fully recover from a surgical procedure and she was right on target. I'm sorry that your grandpa is dying. Pls know that I'm an e-mail away if you ever want to talk. But pls take it easy, even when you think you are finally feeling good b/c if you do too much during that time you'll go right back to where you started. This was something I learned the hard way on a few occasions. Even with simple outpatient procedures done in the office such as a biopsy for my vaginal wall in 2001 I ended up having fatigue that went on for 3 months. And it felt like as if I had had a laparoscopy. When I had the procedure for my cervix in Oct (I had cryotherapy done, it's where they actually freeze old skin off the cervix) and I knew that with the way I dealt with pain that Motrin and Ibuprofen wasn't going to touch it and oh yeah, I had to rest a lot. But then about the same time I was dealing with that I was sick from something else for 3 weeks. Talk about irritating or what? And my mood after that procedure although necessary made me cranky. So I learned after that that if I have a dr's appt scheduled with another dr for that same week to cancel it til I'm feeling much better. Pls take it easy as I said hun so that you can help your body heal.
