David,

Ummmm.....he told her what??????????????!!!!!!!!!! That is the most insane thing I have ever heard. Having endo is not directly life threatening. There have been studies that suggest that endo sufferers are more prone to other immune related illnesses such as lupus....unless she has some other diagnosed issue that could be life threatening I don't know how he could make that statement.

As far as her side effects are concerned, she can ask her doctor about add back therapy. That entails the doctor prescribing just enough replacement hormone to lessen the body's reaction to the lupron. That said...if this doctor really thinks that she is going to die of endometriosis she needs to find a new doctor fast, because clearly this one is not up to date on the disease.

here is a web site with endo information (including treatment options) http://www.morehead.org/wellconnected/000074.htm

This is a yahoo list serve where you can post a request for information on endo doctors in your area.

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EndoDocs/

And here is a link to a listing of doctors

http://www.geocities.com/endovictims/endodocs.html

Keep doing your research...the more you know the better!

Good luck, Alyson
