I think it really depends on your personal situation and the level of severity your Dr believes your endo is in. For me, I actually had the surgery as an out-patient procedure, and was only in the hospital for three hours after the lap. before going home. However, I wish I was in the hospital for longer, because my mother had to come stay with me to help me recover. I think I was only allowed an out=patient op tho because of insurance reasons - this was about eight years ago when even less was known about endo (even tho there is hardly any info still today!)
