Re: Pain in hips and knee jointsFrom: Tammy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Dec 29 13:07:15 2005
Kristina, I have had extreme problems with my right knee for about 3 years now. I had to switch careers(I was in retail) because I could no longer stand. Here is a little insight. On a monday I woke up and over the course of the day maybe 3-4 times I had this weird click like thing go in my knee that caused me to jump. It didn't hurt but happened when I was striding off that leg onto the other leg. The next day it happened more frequently this time with pain that caused me to squeal. The third day I could bairly walk and ended up leaving work in tears and went to the medi centre. There they had a look at my knee told me I strained a muscle and to rest for a couple of day's. The next morning I couldn't bend my knee! I couldn't stand on my leg nothing. So off to the emergency room I went. There they took x-ray's and told me my knee was filled with fluid, they figured I probably tore my(can't remember the name big important tendon in your knee) gave me crutches and antinflamitories and told me to rest. I was now on short term disablility as I could not walk without the crutches. AFter a month and a half my knee was slightly better however I couldn't walk without my brace or crutches. By this time my gp was back from holiday's I went to see him. He scheduled me for an MRI and 7 months later I got the MRI. It showed that I had small cysts in behind my knee cap(endo?) when I went into the orthopedic surgeon they did another MRI and he told me there wasn't anything wrong that the cysts should be causeing any pain. At the time I hadn't been doing any research on endo. It wasn't until I started doing research that I realized that those cysts were most likely endo related. As of right now I don't know what to do. I don't know if I should do further research or wait until I have my next surgry and have them go into my knee as well. All I know is the pain can be brutal. If you have really bad knee pain and don't seem to be getting anywhere with the docs a knee brace can really help! It helps with the pain and just the simple task of walking. Also try to lower your heels( if you wear high heels) I know this sucks(I wore almost flats for 6 months couldn't take it anymore and went back to stilettos) If the pain gets really bad laying flat on your back with your knee elevated with a couple of pillows really helps as well.
