what are the risks/disadvantages of removing uterus (not ovaries)

Hi all,

I recently had my 2nd lap, but am having more instead of less pain (even though I'm long past my recovery period), even though I had all the endo that was found removed. My doctor now thinks I might have adenomyosis, because even though my uterus looked normal, I had a lot of pain coming from it and he thinks that might be why I still have pain after removing the endo.

Also, I think I developed adhesions, as some of the pain is differnet from what I previously had before surgery and feels like a tugging, pulling feeling.

Anyway, of course I plan to discuss this with my doctor (I'm in between gynos. right now--need to find a new one)as well as do further research, but I want to get opinons and experiences form women on this board as well.

What are the downsides to removing the uterus? As far as I know I won't go into menopause if I keep my ovaries, right? I 100% do not want to give birth so that is not an issue at all. Is there any reason for me to NOT get my uterus removed? One thing I am worried about is developing more adhesions after surgery.

Thank you all very much for your help.
