I'm glad my story could help. I hope that you have plently of good
days, too. I know since you're writing in this forum, you must be in
pain and I am so sorry for it. I hope the forum helps you as much as it
has helped me throughout the last year. Just knowing that other people
are sharing in your experience helps, ya know? And as much as you
probably are sick of crying, that actually helps, too. Every time you
cry, you release the hormones that make you sad in your tears. So think
of it as a cleansing. Let those tears wash away the bad stuff!
To answer your question, my doctor who performed the laparotomy
specializes in mostly fertility issues which of course involves endo,
but it's not his sole practice. I started going to him originally
because I was pregnant and needed a new OBGYN. So, he delivered my
baby. He was the one who diagnosed endo after a few years of other
doctors' misdiagnoses. I have to say I was quite lucky in that respect.
It was a little weird at first, because he is only a year or two older
than me so I thought he couldn't possibly have enough experience with
endo to know what he was doing. But the other hand of that was, he was
a little fresher out of school than my other doctors, so he was more
"up" on the latest techniques and warning signs, etc.
I hope you can find a good doctor, too. Don't give up until you are
comfortable with the doctor, his techniques, his bedside manner, his
nurses, his office, EVERYthing! That is most important. You need
someone who will work WITH you and not TELL you what you need. Your
instincts are the ones that will tell you what you need. Good luck to
you. I hope you feel better soon.
Love, Cindy
