2 weeks postsurgery... still bad pain... help!From: Myriam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Dec 28 12:10:44 2005
Hi everyone, I got laparoscopic surgery 2 weeks ago. They cut a very large (5'), long (10') and thick (thicker than my thum apparently...) adhesion on my right side which was stopping me to even bend more than 90 degrees, and they also removed white endometriosis. All these things were done using a KTC (sp?)laser. Right after the surgery, in recovery, I woke up in horrendous pain. I was crying so much but couldn't even talk because my voice was off due to the tube they inserted during the surgery... Pain only in my belly and at the level of where they used the laser. No pain in my shoulder or anywhere else, just this burning stabbing pain in my abdomen. They gave me fentanyl, several times. Instead of coming back home at the end of the ambulatory surgery, I had to stay 2 more days in the hospital to control the pain using a PCA pump and morphine. Since then, I had a steady but very slow recovery, but I had to stay home longer than a thought to recover as much as I could, until yesterday when I went back to work. Staying sit for long time and my pants pressure on my belly have triggered really bad pain... I was crying yesterday when I came back from work.. couldn't take it again... not anymore, and no more... I am not usually easily broken down by pain. It takes a lot for me to admit that I am in pain, and it is not the first lap I had, and the previous times it never hurt this bad. So now, of course, I am getting nervous: what is happening to me?.... I called my gyn but he is in vacations and I am supposed to see him in January in any case for the postop consultation. But until then I have to hold. They accepted to call in a prescription for Tylenol #3 and I am waiting this evening to be able to take it after work. But still, is anyone here had these kind of problems after their lap? Just pain, horrible pain, no fever (got some after the surgery, but it is gone now). Please, let me know if it did happen to any of you, and what did you do or what would do?.......... Please, help me... I am so down and affraid...
