Exactly Rhonda,

So should we let poor Britney and the other girls be too fearful to seek medical attention and take proper care of themselves or do we tell them the truth, that the best way to protect themselves is to not keep important things secret from people who do need to know.

As the mother of grown children and a former teenage girl I know very well what these girls are thinking and their mother is not going to kill them. Mom may be disappointed that her daughter didn't choose to wait until she was married but she'll get over it and with time will actually be proud of her daughter for being so responsible with her own health to seek proper medical care. For the flipside of the coin - some mom's will hold it against the daughter, particularly if mom had early sex and regrets it.

Daughters - talk WITH your moms and Moms - talk WITH your daughters (and sons!) and give them the best gifts in the world - trust, wisdom and guidance to a healthy life and future.

As for the issues of privacy - all those doctor/patient privileges are on the way out - it is absolutely true and if you want to protect yourselves you must educate yourselves in the political happenings that are not being featured on the nightly news.
