Re: Benadryl Allergy?

I have also not been diagnosed with an allergy to Benadryl, but had been
taking it to control allergy symptoms for about 10 months (it doesn't
make me sleepy), and started to get these hives. They started out
fairly minor, but got worse over time. Guess why? I was taking more
Benadryl to treat them! It got so bad one Sunday (after taking 200mg)
that I called my doctor's office and had the on-call doc send me a
prescription for Prednisone (which cleared them right up - but is such
nasty stuff). Coincidentally, last week, I was taking Actifed for the
sinus and asthma stuff, and had no hives for days. Then, I popped a
Benadryl, and within 20 minutes I was broken out everywhere. That was
enough evidence for me!! No more benadryl, no more hives!! They say it's
very unusual, but it does exist!
Also, if you have hives regardless of the Benadryl, there's an all
natural product you can buy on the web called Lacitrex that presumably
works really well.
