to Robbie -- OVULATION? Re: Pain during mid-cycle while taking Birth Control

I'm confused, my doc told me that the pill should also prevent
ovulation, which is why it's used to treat endo and that's also why it
prevents pregnancy.
Is that not true? If it's not and we ovulate on the pill anyway, why is
it being used to keep my endo at bay?
Just confused now...if you have info, it would be appreciated.
