Re: ICFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Oct 15 11:38:45 2005
Hi Jamie and Leslie, Actually, the cystoscopy your urologist is going to be doing is not done through a lap. In order to diagnose IC they have to look inside the bladder, which means they have to go in with the scope thru the uretha. The reason they are doing it during the lap is two basically kill two birds with one stone, since you have to be put under for both the lap and the cysto, they are just saving you from having to have 2 surgeries. I have IC and my gyno also prescribed me naproxen for the cramps during menstruation, and there are many IC patients that cannot take naproxen because it is in the family of ibuprofen and can cause major irriation and pain in the bladder. Basically with IC, the membrane that lines the internal bladder wall is completely gone or almost completely gone. My doc best described it as this: In a person that has IC, when the bladder gets urine inside it from the kidneys, it's like pouring acid on a wound. I was told once by someone that 80% of women with endo also have IC, and they are called the evil twins. Good luck with everything, I hope my information helped a bit. Take care...Amanda At Fri, 14 Oct 2005, Jamie wrote:
