Re: how many had a laparoscopy with endo removed but no pain relief afterward? From: Alyson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Oct 12 15:36:33 2005
M- I see that you've had several responses, but I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. I had a lap in August of '04 to diagnose endo. I called my doctor days afterward and told her that I still felt the endo pain. She told me it was normal and might take up to a month to subside. I waited....no relief- ever. For the past year I have had escalating pelvic, back, urination, bowel movement, period pain, cramping, stabbing...and on and on to the point that it got to be a daily thing and for the past few months was down right debilitating at times. I saught a second opinion finally. He suggested another lap. I didn't think he'd find anything...my last doc kept saying that there was no way anything would have grown back yet and another surgery was a moot point. Well...I went in last Thursday with the new doc for lap #2. He found endo EVERYWHERE, large implants including a ball of endo and scar tissue the size of an orange attached to my pelvic wall. I say this not to scare you, but to let you know that it is possible to still have "that" pain. You know your body better than anyone, you've been living with what endo feels like, you can distinsguish it from other pain, and if you are still having that pain you have a valid reason to investigate further. It may require some meds, different birth control pills, whatever. I haven't been given a straight answer about why/how this happens. If you have any questions, I'll answer as best I can. Good luck to you. Alyson
